큐레이터가 되는 법 How Did You Become a Curator?
큐레이팅 스쿨 서울이 0.5학기를 시작합니다. 우리는 매달 여러 방식의 ‘수업’을 시도하고, 시험합니다. 하지만 자리에 앉아 강의를 듣기만 하면, ‘수업’이 아닙니다. 우리는 여러분과 ‘이야기’를 하고 싶습니다.
9월 4일 오후 10시 반, 서울 안팎, 한국 안팎의 큐레이터들이 모여 자신의 주요 프로젝트나 위대한 예술적 비전 대신 ‘나는 어떻게 해서 이 일을 시작하게 되었고, 어떻게 해서 여기까지 오게 되었나‘를 대화로 나눕니다. 여러분도 오셔서 이야기를 나눠주길 기대합니다.
‘다음 세대’가 존재하길 꿈꾸는 짜릿한 자리에 함께 해주세요.
Curating School Seoul is starting its Semester 0.5. In this semester, we attempt and test various types of ‘classes’ every month. Yet, it’s not a ‘class’ if you just sit and listen to lectures. We want to have a ‘conversation’ with you.
On September 4th at 10:30 PM, curators from in and around Seoul, and from inside and outside Korea, will gather to discuss “How did I start this work, and how did I get here?” through conversation, instead of talking about their major projects or grand artistic visions.
We hope you will come and join the conversation – to witness an exciting moment of caring for the new generation of practitioners to come.
연사, 혹은 이야기를 여는 이들 Speakers, or Guests to Open Up Conversation
1. 차오지아싱 CHAO Jiaxing
상하이와 베를린을 기반으로 활동하는 독립 큐레이터. 햇빛담요재단에서 열린 《터빈송풍구 아래 임계값》(2024.8.16~9.13)을 위해 서울을 방문 중이다.
An independent curator based in Shanghai and Berlin. Currently visiting Seoul for the exhibition The Threshold under Turbine Vents (August 16 – September 13, 2024) held at the Sunblanket Foundation.
2. 최상호 CHOI Sangho
부산현대미술관 학예사 혹은 큐레이터. 전시의 제작부터 유통 그리고 소비의 과정에 대한 비판적 성찰을 지속하려고 노력 중이다. 최근 《능수능란한 관종》(2024.3.16~7.7)으로 월간미술대상 전시부문 최우수상을 수상했다.
Curator at the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art. CHOI is trying to keep a critical reflection on the process of exhibition production, distribution and consumption. He was recently awarded the grand prize in the exhibition category at the Monthly Art Awards for the exhibition Masterful Attention Seekers (March 16 – July 7, 2024).
3. 이민지 LEE Minji
d/p에서 큐레이터로 일한다. 2024년에는 “d/p 유산 연구실” 프로그램에 집중하고 있다.
Works as a curator at d/p in Seoul. In 2024, LEE is focusing on the “d/p Heritage Lab” program.
4. 죠앤킴 Joanne KIM
최근 베를린에서 서울로 기반을 옮겼다. 온수공간에서 진행 중인 비고 작가의 개인전 《스플린트》(2024.8.30~9.8)를 기획했다.
Recently relocated from Berlin to Seoul. Curated Vigo’s solo exhibition SPLINT (August 30 – September 8, 2024) currently on view at Onsu Gonggan.
5. 박재용 PARK Jaeyong
최근 몇 년간 글쓰기와 번역에 집중하고 있으며, 서울리딩룸에서 ‘장서광’을 맡고 있다. 미술지 《Frieze》의 컨트리뷰팅 라이터로 일한다.
Has been focusing on writing and translation in recent years. Works as a ‘bibliomaniac’ at Seoul Reading Room. Contributing writer for Frieze magazine.
5. 큐 리 Kyoo Lee
뉴욕 시립대학교 존 제이 칼리지와 동대학원에서 철학, 젠더학, 여성학 교수로 일한다. 이번 행사에서 우리는 Q를 ‘큐레이터’로 초대하였다.
Is a Professor of Philosophy, Gender Studies and Women’s Studies at John Jay College and The Graduate Center, CUNY. But for the night, we’ve invited Q as a ‘curator.’
