큐레이팅 스쿨 서울은 큐레이팅 하는 법을 알려줄 수 없습니다. 대신 우리는 시선을 장착하는 법을 함께 개발할 수 있습니다. “도시 삶의 단면”을 주제로 진행될 강연과 현장학습, 세미나 역시 마찬가지입니다.

인류는 약 1만 년 전부터 도시에 살기 시작했다고 합니다. 어떤 경제학자는 도시를 두고 “인류 최대의 발명품”이라고 이야기하기도 합니다. 20년 후에는 인류의 65%가 도시에 살 것이라 예측하는 사람도 있습니다.

“도시 삶의 단면” 세션에서 우리는 도시라는 거대하고 복잡한 시스템이 굴러가기 위한 기반들을 탐구해봅니다. 오늘날 도시인의 라이프스타일을 가능하게 만드는, 하지만 종종 숨겨져서 보이지 않는 도시의 단면들을 면면히 들여다보는 것이지요. 도시를 단순한 배경이 아닌 매일의 삶을 조직하고 형성하는 장치로 보는 접근을 함께 실험해보는 것이기도 합니다.

💎 강사 소개

김리원은 도시설계와 도시계획을 전공했다. 현대 도시를 관찰·분석하고, 도시경관, 도시 물류, 모빌리티, 정책 수립에 관한 연구를 하고 있다. 서울대학교 환경계획연구소 객원연구원, 인하대학교 도시계획학과 겸임교수로 연구와 강의를 해오고 있다. (주)에이앤에프 이사, 협동조합 문화비상구 대표이기도 하다. <도시경관의 이론과 실제>, <한편 11호: 플랫폼>의 공저자이다.

📦 새벽 4시, 서울 곳곳에서 벌어지는 일들 밤사이 움직이는 수많은 손들, 분류되고 이동하는 상품들, 그리고 아침에 문 앞에 도착하는 작은 상자 하나. 이 모든 과정 속에서 도시는 어떻게 작동하고, 우리의 욕망과 편의는 어떤 공간적 조건들을 만들어내고 있을까요?

💭 질문하는 큐레이팅: 일상 속 도시 읽기 이 강연은 답을 제시하기보다는 새로운 질문들을 던집니다. 우리가 당연하게 여기는 도시의 풍경들 속에서 어떤 이야기들을 발견할 수 있을까요? 큐레이터의 시선으로 도시를 바라본다는 것은 무엇을 의미할까요?

🌙 [코어멤버한정] 밤샘현장학습예고 큐레이팅 스쿨 코어 멤버들은 강연 다음 날인 17일 밤부터 다음 날 새벽까지, 서울 동남권 물류허브인 장지동 일대에서 현장학습을 진행합니다. 현대적 도시인의 삶을 가능하게 하지만 많은 사람들에게는 보이지 않는 유통과 물류 기반시설이 그려내는 도시경관. 이론에서 현실로, 강의실에서 도시의 심장부로. 새벽배송의 실제 현장에서 도시가 어떻게 숨쉬고 있는지 직접 목격하고 체험하는 시간이 될 것입니다. 택배 상자 하나가 우리에게 도달하기까지의 여정을 따라가며, 보이지 않던 도시의 리듬을 감각할 예정이예요.

Curating School Seoul cannot teach you how to curate. Instead, we can develop together how to equip ourselves with new perspectives. The same goes for the lectures, field studies, and seminars under the theme “Cross-Sections of Urban Life.”

Humanity began living in cities approximately 10,000 years ago. Some economists call cities “humanity’s greatest invention.” Some predict that 65% of humanity will live in cities in 20 years.

In the “Cross-Sections of Urban Life” session, we explore the foundations that keep the massive and complex system called the city running. We closely examine the cross-sections of the city—often hidden and invisible—that make modern urban lifestyles possible. It’s also an experiment in approaching the city not as mere background, but as a device that organizes and shapes our daily lives.

💎 About the Lecturer

Kim Liwon majored in urban design and urban planning. She observes and analyzes contemporary cities and conducts research on urban landscapes, urban logistics, mobility, and policy development. She has been conducting research and lectures as a visiting researcher at Seoul National University’s Environmental Planning Institute and as an adjunct professor in the Department of Urban Planning at Inha University. She is also a director at A&F Co., Ltd. and the representative of Culture Emergency Exit Cooperative. She is a co-author of Theory and Practice of Urban Landscape and Hanpyeon Issue 11: Platform.

Dawn delivery is not just a service. It is a complex system that reorganizes urban space, compresses time, and creates new forms of labor and consumer culture. Let’s dissect together the operating principles of the city hidden behind the convenience we enjoy.

💭 Curating Through Questions: Reading the City in Daily Life
This lecture raises new questions rather than providing answers. What stories can we discover in the urban landscapes we take for granted? What does it mean to view the city through a curator’s perspective?

🌙 [Core Members Only] All-Night Field Study Preview
Curating School core members will conduct a field study from the night of the 17th until the next morning in the Jangji-dong area, Seoul’s southeastern logistics hub. The urban landscape drawn by distribution and logistics infrastructure that enables modern urban life but remains invisible to many. From theory to reality, from the classroom to the heart of the city. This will be a time to directly witness and experience how the city breathes at the actual site of dawn delivery. We’ll follow the journey of a single delivery box reaching us and sense the invisible rhythm of the city.
